WELCOME TO 529JAZZ !

529JAZZ is the new universal access designation for V V Records and other related links. This change reflects the company's broadening management interests as well as its continued growth as a record label.

With a 55 year-long career encompassing jazz, rock, blues, classical - you name it – Vic Vogel has an abiding interest in all genres of music.


V VRecords is thus part of the richness of Canada 's broad cultural mosaic: Blues, Folk, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, Latin, World - all these find harbour at 529JAZZ .

As the CEO and co-founder of V V Records, Vogel wanted to provide a home for as wide a variety of talents, styles and traditions as possible. And since its inception in1998, V V Records has grown to provide not only a home for Montreal artists, but international stars as well like Cuban crooner Chiquitin and his countryman, jazz pianist Chucho Valdez.

Every CEO needs a right hand man, and the serendipitous moment came when Vogel sat down beside Bob Pover on a flight to Cuba a few years back. It was a perfect match of musician and means; Vic liked Pover's corporate marketing and management background, and Bob delighted at the opportunity to work with an artist of Vogel's stature. Together they mapped out a strategy for a unique music industry venture.

We are also a proud supporter of non-profit organizations and charities. Recently, along with singer Johanne Blouin, we participated in a benefit for the Belgium Fireman's Association as well as Quebec concerns such as Fondation du CHUS de Sherbrooke, Fondation des Maladies de l'œil du Quebec and the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.

With so much talent at hand.....V V Records.com is bursting at the seams. But with too many CDs going out at once, management of each artist's exposure could be compromised.

The solution? Release a compilation CD that samples each artist's material and allows for better pacing.

Last year's Montreal Jazz & Blues served to introduce the public to four V V Records.com signatories. This year, the list has exploded to include over a dozen artists and groups. Montreal Jazz & Blues 2001 documents the remarkable growth of V V Records.com over the past year, with over 30 titles recorded by V V artists.
