| MONTREAL
JAZZ & BLUES PLUS is a 13-artist, 33-song celebration of V V
Records label’s vastly expanded talent roster. In addition
to Vic Vogel, Le Jazz Big Band, RJ & the Houndogs, and Dean
Cottrill, V V welcomes several new personages in jazz, blues and
beyond. It’s a multimedia enhanced CD Rom package, with 7 live
concert video clips, bios of the artists and over 170 photos. We
believe that so extensive a use of multimedia technology is a first
for CDs released in North America. So who are the new kids? Bassist
Alex Bellegarde, featured here with his quartet, reggae roots singer
Dan Beats; the explosive 4 Brass (check out their main stage Jazz
Festival video); Cuban vocal legend Chiquitin (featured in bonus
tracks on last year’s Montréal Jazz & Blues VVCD7775);
Montreal’s own international singing star Geraldine Hunt; more
great reggae vibes from Singer Judah and Jah Children; and a new
singer on the Montreal rhythm and blues scene, Mira.As a special
treat, one of the videos features V V Records CEO Vic Vogel in an
intimate 2-piano conversation with long-time friend Chucho Valdes
(Valdes is captured in audio as well in two solo tracks). Vogel
also tributes another friend, this one sadly departed: Moe Kaufman.
Closing out MONTREAL JAZZ & BLUES PLUS is Vic’s arrangement
of Kaufman’s Swinging Shepherd Blues. |
